In New Zealand we drive on the left side of the road and give way to traffic from the right.

When turning left you must giveway (yield) to traffic crossing or approaching from the right.

Speed limits are strictly enforced: 50 kilometres per hour in urban areas and 100 kilometre per hour on the highways. Distances are measured in kilometres.

Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts at all times in both front and rear seats.

Driver’s License

A standard car license in English is all that is required to drive in New Zealand. All drivers must present a current New Zealand, International, or acceptable overseas license written in English at commencement of hire. Hirers and drivers must be over 21 years of age.
